With a rich programme of talks and interactive sessions, eLTER researchers will spotlight how long-term, integrated, and interdisciplinary ecosystem research is vital to addressing today’s most urgent environmental challenges.

In early April, eLTER experts from Austria, Israel, and Slovakia convened in Vienna for a three-day workshop dedicated to exploring how LTSER platforms can deepen their contribution to sustainability transformations.

At its heart is a network of scientists, researchers, and local communities who share a commitment to understanding and protecting the ecosystems that sustain life across Greece and far beyond its borders.

A key milestone was the recent eLTER data call, which attracted 54 applications from 13 countries, reflecting strong community engagement.

Core discussions focused on how to build a robust bridge between the current project structures and the eLTER ERIC

In a study, supported by eLTER PLUS project, the research team analysed data from 1,327 time series spanning the period from 1968 to 2021, covering 23 European countries.

By integrating future environmental conditions into network planning, eLTER RI can evolve into a more comprehensive and adaptive research infrastructure, strengthening Europe’s capacity to address climate and land use challenges.

The LTER Slovakia network consists of organisations that coordinate LTER sites and LTSER platforms in Slovakia, partner organisations participating in the research and scientist working in these sites and platforms.
